Animals, animals, plants

Well, Here we are. The three of us in Leavenworth. That's J with us but you get the picture. We don't take to many together as usually one of us is on the other end of the camera. We are Nanny and Grandpa who live OVER THE RIVER AND THROUGH THE WOODS on a mini farm. After raising our 4 children we moved to a small plot of land with only a barn and are slowly (with the help of God and our children) making it into our own little mini farm with animals and plants.

This guy is not an animal.

But he does live with us.
This is Jeremy or J, or JJ.
Our oldest son.
I thought that we should introduce you to our mini farm inhabitants. They give us much joy and entertainment (or grief).

This is Grant. He is an 11 year old golden retriever and basically rules.

Rags our cockapoo who is Grant's sidekick

and often in trouble. She is our mole getter

and in need of a hair cut. Friday then, maybe a trip to Wilco?

Our little goat herd.

The nosy one on top of the gate is Gideon, a dwarf Nubian. The curious one below is Samuel and the one with her back turned is Poppy, both are pygmies.

And Maxine who will soon

be dressed in white.

And these beautiful ladies

belong to Jeremy,

Henny Penny and Speckles

who supply us with fresh eggs

most of the time.

This picture is for Abby.

It is her tree in bloom,

an Eastern Redbud.

The Quince tree in bloom.

We go out often and check on the flowers and fruits and vegetables. We have an abundance of wild rabbits that we share with along with deer. This year the garden has been slow. The old saying around here is you plant your vegetables when the snow is off the Silver Star mountain. This year that maybe August and it will snow again come September. Knowing this sage advise --- we planted anyway. Then we had to shade the plants due to 90 degree plus temperatures. (So happy we believe in an all knowing God and that we are not in control. Obvious to us that he is. )

The grape arbor is leafing out. We lost all of out Marion berries and most of the Boysenberries and Logans. The tay, rasp and blues are doing fare. Do to my mother's fall this past fall we were unable to make the time to winterize the plants and lost some. (My mother and dad live here with us.) We have several pear and apple trees, and a fig tree also. We planted blackcaps this year which is a black raspberry
We hope that it will last into a long and bountiful summer.
